Spurs Down Tigers
By: Matt | February 23rd, 2009Spurs 2 Hull 1
Hull city lost an agonizing decision to Spurs on Monday night, dropping them deeper into the relegation dogfight. A late Jonathan Woodgate header gave all three points at the KC, scoring just moments after Kamil Zayatte rang the woorwork with his own headed effort.
Phil Brown’s team selection reflected his stated aim of stifling Spurs creativity, with Geovanni, Mendy and Manucho all starting on the bench, leaving Cousin and Garcia to lead the attack.
Aaron Lennon opened the scoring for Spurs, lashing home from the top of the box after Hull poorly defended a short corner from Luka Modric. The Tigers reply was swift and decisive however, with Turner poking home a goal mouth scramble after a period of sustained pressure from the big cats.
Hull put their London rivals under sustained pressure throughout the second half, but were unable to break through, with Woodgate breaking the Tiger faithfuls hearts with his late winner. Ugh.
In other news, as I’m sure everyone has heard, new signing Jimmy Bullard is out for the year after undergoing knee surgery in the United States. Enough about that, don’t want to talk about it.
Stay tuned for an interview of Tiger midfielder Bernie Mendy, from the Official Hull City magazine, CITY.

I’ve got a really bad feeling about Hull. I’d have never imagined you’d be in this position a few months back. You really need a win from somewhere, and quick too! Eventually you’ve got to get some luck.
