Tigers Agree Fee for Zamora; Fans Ask ‘Why?’
By: Matt | July 15th, 2009Stop This
Phil, seriously dude, what is going on? Our achilles heel in the latter part of last season was our utter profligacy in front of goal. No doubt about it.
Yet in our quest to resolve this problem (since the Owen pursuit ended) we have first gone after Daryl Murphy, who has scored a whopping 14 goals in well over 100 appearances for Sunderland, and Bobby Zamora, who has a stunning(ly bad) 2 goals in his Fulham career. Not exactly the most glittering examples of goal scoring prowess. Granted, Zamora works very hard on the pitch, but two goals in a season just doesn’t cut it, especially with Fulhams ability and service this past season. Sorry.
I’ll always be last in the queue to criticize Phil Brown, but this just isn’t good enough. The purpose of the summer, especially when you survived by the skin of your teeth, is to ’strengthen’ your squad. How are Daryl Murphy and/or Bobby Zamora doing that? OK granted, Manucho, Cousin and Folan weren’t exactly banging them in, but I don’t see these two as an improvement.
So What Other Options Are There?
With strikers flooding into Man City seemingly everyday, why not try and pry away someone from Eastlands? With Adebayor (possibly), Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz in, that leaves Ched Evans, Caiecedo, Benjani, Bojinov and Bellamy looking at a season on the bench. We are going to pay five million pounds for Bobby Zamora when we could probably easily get a similar price for Benjani or Felipe Caiecedo, both powerful, skillful, clinical in front of goal, and PROVEN goalscorers at this level?
WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!

hei dude im worried about Hull city now, will they ever survive the premier league this year? or will Hull find someone better then Phil Brown before things get too late and loss their survival in the Barclay premier? i was thinking of improving the goalkeeper and the defenders, not always the strikers all the time
