Tigers and Potters Draw
By: Matt | December 1st, 2008Hull 1 Stoke 1
Saturday saw Hull and Stoke battle to a 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium. An opener by Marlon King was cancelled out by his Jamaican teammate Ricardo Fullers penalty to leave both sides with a point.
As yo’ve probably seen already, hilarity ensued as Hull decided they were tired of the Delapinator’s long throw antics, and sent the ageless Dean Windass to warm-up in front of/next to Delap as he prepared to take the throw. The distraction tactics didn’t prevent another artillery shell of a throw from the Irish midfielder, but it was pretty funny. When Windass attempted to do it again later in the game, he was booked.
Another comic episode occured later in the match as Tigers keeper Boaz Myhill, rather than play a ball out for a throw as you’d often see a goalkeeper do, voluntarily kicked it out for a corner, rather than face a long throw from Delap. Hilarious. If Gio Trappatoni can’t get Stephen Ireland to play for the boys in green, at least bring in Delap and the old catapult arms. If Premiership defenders tremble at the mere mention, what will Montenegro and Georgia do? (Probably go, ‘Rory who?’)
Three draws on the trot for the Tigers, but no complaints as they stopped the losing streak cold. Now they just need to get another win to boost the confidence, which isn’t out of the question heading into a stretch where they play Boro, Sunderland, Liverpool and Villa. 6 points from those four would do just fine thank you.
Other News
Craig Fagan looks to make his return sometime in the next month, after that disgusting tackle (sorry, it wasn’t a tackle, assault is a more apt description) by Mr. Guthrie. So that’s pretty good news.
