Tigers Draw with Blades in Cup

Tigers 1 Blades 1
Hull City drew one-all with Sheffield United Saturday in the their FA Cup tie at Bramall Lane. The Blades opened the scoring early when Greg Halford mistook Sam Ricketts for a ladder, climbed up his back, and headed past Boaz Myhill. The Tigers, though perturbed, managed to fight back when Kamil Zayette glanced home a header off of a free kick later in the first half.
Geovanni seemed strangely subdued, at least more so than normal, but did play a few nice balls, while Dean Marney was his all action self throughout the 90. Caleb Folan started up front, the Irish international not finding too much joy against the Sheffield back four, he made way for Manucho, who didn’t have much time to make an impact. Aussie Richard Garcia also looked lively for the 80 or so minutes he was on, and had a few good chances to score.
For Sheffield, speedy David Cotterill also looked dangerous, and Halford’s header was well placed, even if he was molesting Ricketts on the way up. What struck me about Sheffield is that their average team age must be about 43 with Sun Jihai, Chris Morgan and Lee Hendrie (Lee Hendrie!? now we know where he’s been, and yes I know he is only 30 something, just seems older), so the Tigers should be good value for a win in the return at the KC.
Stay tuned for some official content from Tigers magazine CITY coming up.
