Tigers Hold Blues at the Bridge

By: Matt | February 7th, 2009

Hull City 0 Chelsea 0

In a spirited performance, Phil Browns troops held on for a nil – nil draw against a reeling Chelsea side. Although the Blues dominated for long periods and created a number of chances, Matt Duke was solid in net, and the Tigers held firm. Dean Marney even had a glorious chance to win it deep in the second half, but after Geovanni released him in the box, he drilled across Hilario in the Chelsea net, but agonizingly wide.

Craig Fagan was in great form for the Tigers, harrying and chasing, holding play up when needed, and hustling non-stop. Geo was at his usual mercurial self, and solid perfromances were put in by the back four, and especially Matt Duke in net. His save on Chelski new boy Ricky Quaresma was straight out of the top drawer. The Tigers even took it to their more illustrious hosts in the second half, which is warming to see after the run of form we’ve been in over the past few months.

Although it isn’t three points, we will certainly take the result to build on, as its not often teams go into Stamford Bridge and emerge with anything but a kick up the backside.
