Tigers Nab Jimmy Bullard

Goldy Locks to City

Hull City pulled off a fantastic coup today, signing Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard for a paltry £5 million. The all action former Wigan man should be introduced to the Tigers faithful in advance of the weekends FA Cup clash with Millwall.

In terms of January signings, this has to be one of the best so far this season in Britain. There are obviously questions on his fitness, but there is no doubt that on and off the pitch he has been invaluable wherever he has been in the past few years. Aside from his well known ability from set pieces, his positive influence in the dressing room has always been noted by teammates and managers. And for 5 mill? I’m sure Paul Duffen snapped Al-Fayed’s hand off to seal that deal.

Fulham manager was left defending the decision earlier today and I don’t blame him. I certainly have a soft spot for the Cottagers, as I attended my first Prem match there some years ago, and this loss will surely bite for Fulham supporters.

As an aside, lets take a look at this deal compared to another recent transfer in the EPL.

Jimmy Bullard - (Fulham to Hull) fantastic on free kicks, immense in the dressing room, tenacious on the defensive end, is a fantastic golfer, and one of the best anglers (fishing) in England (no joke, look it up).

Total Cost – £5 million

Craig Bellamy – (West Ham to Man City) has scored less than 8 goals in two seasons with West Ham, as a striker, once threatened to fake an injury in order to not play as a right winger, sent gloating/absuive text messages to Alan Shearer while at Blackburn following the Magpies FA Cup exit that season, and oh yeah….tried to break then teammate John Arne Riise’s legs with a golf club….because he wouldn’t sing in karaoke.

Total Cost – £14 million

And Mark Hughes says they won’t pay ‘over market value’ for anyone. Well if 14 mil is market value for Mr. Bellamy then either this is one F’ed up market, or we got an absolute steal for £5 million.

I can see it now (looking off into the distance wistfully)…..”Bullard stands over the dead ball…..he sets to deliver……its curling towards the back post…..Manucho is there…..MANUCHO…..GOALLLLLL!!!!” Alright alright, I’ll wait till they make an appearance together first.
